It is a working family workshop that welcomes visitors and groups at the potter's wheel.
About the place
The workshop is on Tudor Vladimirescu Street, the national road through Horezu, about 800 metres east of the centre. It is run by Ion and Mihaela Paloși. Ion Paloși has worked clay for more than 35 years, and his family was among the first on the street to open a pottery workshop.
The colours are pigments made from clays with metal oxides, which the potters prepare themselves. Pieces are painted while the clay is still damp, fired at about 1,000 degrees for about 10 hours, then glazed and fired again at 1,100 degrees. Visitors can walk into the yard and the workshop, and groups can shape their own pieces. The family also keeps a display of autographs left by well-known guests.

- If you come as a group or want to try shaping clay, let them know in advance.
